Description Surakshan Mendis 2004-06-18 15:36:57 UTC
Current version in portage TiLP: v6.68
Newest version from developer: TiLP: v6.71

There has been improvments in this version that warrant a update here. Examples including speed selection for a given link cable and bug fixes.

Also these need bumping (dependancies) (new version given)
- libticables: v3.8.1
- libticalcs: v4.5.3
- libtifiles: v0.5.8
- TiLP: v6.71

I'd imagine it would just require a change in the current ebuilds

Regards

Reproducible: Always

latest libticables version is 3.8.4.
latest libtifiles version is 0.5.9.
latest tilp version is 6.72.
btw, there are sandbox violations with 6.72.

hello,

i modified the ebuilds for the three tilib and also tried to create a tilp ebuild for the new version. but i never wrote ebuilds before and that is why i was not able to manage the problems that appeared with the tilp ebuild. there are different ACCESS VIOALOTIONS when you try
> ebuild tilp-6.74.ebuild install
but i will add the not working ebuild to this bug. you can install tilp by running
> ebuild tilp-6.74.ebuild compile
> cd /var/tmp/portage/tilp-6.74/work/tilp-6.74/
> make install
> mkdir /usr/lib/tilp
> emerge -i app-sci/tilp-6.74

i hope anyone can help me fixing this problem. i was told that there must be a problem whith the Makefile but i don't have an idea of how to edit it.
i guess i should also use einstall, but i don't know what arguments are needed.

there is another problem with these ebuilds, the developers only provide the source in one filename, if the version changes on theire server our digest will fail. i think the source should be renamed properly and stored on all gentoo mirrors. the libs already have proper names inside the archive.

i added the ebuilds as an attachment

is anybody working on a new working ebuild? i would like to do that, but i dont have an idea how to fix the problems in the ebuild i sent here.
if you install tilp the way i described before the file /usr/share/mimelnk/magic will be created. this file somehow confuses kde mime type resolution, you should better delete it or add its content to /usr/kde/**/share/mimelnk/magic.
i will have a lot of time in the next weeks und so i will try to create a working ebuild.

you should get rid of hardcoded install paths too, if i remember correctly, in desktop/Makefile.am for example. thanks for working on this ebuild.
Comment 7 Henning Schild 2004-08-14 06:34:28 UTC
wrote a working ebuild for tilp. i hope it finds its way into the portage tree as soon as possible.

As mentionned in other bug reports, all TiLP packages are now up to date in
Portage: "libticables", "libtifiles", "libticalcs" and "tipl".

Thanks very much for your work, henning.

The "tilp" program seems to work correctly, but I'd appreciate if those who
have a TI graphing calculator could do a bit of extra testing, as I don't own
one myself.

Here are a few random remarks related to submiting ebuilds on Gentoo Bugzilla. They'll help you if you plan to contribute more material.

- Ebuilds should be Q.A. tested using repoman before submiting. This will catch
  mistakes such as missing headers.
- It is possible to mark bugs as depending on others using the appropriate text
boxes on the Bugzilla interface. This is better than just stating the
  dependencies in the comments.
- Don't submit Manifest, ChangeLog or digest-* files on Bugzilla. They are not
needed. Only devs can write ChangeLogs, and Manifests and digests will be
recomputed anyway. Just state what you changed in a comment to your
  attachment.
- Plain text attachments are prefered to archives. In this case, only the four
ebuilds needed to be sent (as separate plain text attachments).
