Comment 1 Peter Jensen 2004-06-17 14:13:55 UTC
Does deleting /root/.sversionrc and possibly /root/.openoffice/ help?
Comment 2 Arnaud Boudou 2004-06-17 22:23:58 UTC
I don't have /root/.sversionrc and /root/.openoffice

Comment 4 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-06-17 23:18:43 UTC
@Arnaud: Are you using Reiser4?
Comment 5 Arnaud Boudou 2004-06-17 23:24:07 UTC
No, reiser 3, and openoffice-bin-1.1.1 install was ok
Comment 6 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-06-17 23:35:24 UTC
Arnaud: Could you try to unmerge OOo-bin 1.1.1 then look into /opt/OpenOffice.org if there is still something in there, if it is: Delete the whole dir (and tell me what was left), afterwards try to merge OOo 1.1.2 again
Comment 7 Arnaud Boudou 2004-06-17 23:51:43 UTC
After unemerging openoffice-bin-1.1.1 , there whas only the empty dir /opt/OpenOffice.org/program

I've deleted it, and now openoffice-bin-1.1.2 emerge successfully.

Thanks for all your help
Comment 8 Jean-François Gagnon Laporte 2004-06-18 08:37:20 UTC
I second that. I had the same problem, did the same procedure (unmerge, remove dir, emerge) and now it WFM.

Thanks

Comment 12 Shyam Mani (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-06-22 11:56:50 UTC
I had to unmerge earlier OpenOffice & clean up the OpenOffice directories in /opt/ & then the emerge worked.
Comment 13 Martin Wegner 2004-06-22 13:49:26 UTC
unmerging 1.1.1, removing /opt/OpenOffice.org/, merging 1.1.2 also worked for me
Comment 14 Seemant Kulleen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-07-29 00:00:28 UTC
marius, short of an addwrite is there a nice way to work around this quirky ooo-bin install?
Comment 15 Seemant Kulleen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-08-20 12:51:40 UTC
portage team, we need your thoughts and advice.
Comment 16 SpanKY gentoo-dev 2004-08-20 17:19:35 UTC
i thought we established that this probably wasnt a portage bug but rather some obscure 'feature' of the OOo installer that tries to `rm -rf` some files in /
Comment 17 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-08-21 04:22:22 UTC
I've added addpredicts for both files to the OOo-ebuilds, could someone test if this works around the problem.

@vapier: I think the question is, if there is a "nicer" solution to this problem
Comment 18 Jackey Yang ("timeout" in forum) 2004-08-22 17:55:57 UTC
i still can not emerge oo-bin, i did fresh installation yesterday.
oo-bin do not give any errors this time, but it hang there.
i have no idea what is going on, i think i may try to install abiword instead.
Comment 19 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-08-22 23:17:39 UTC
Jackey: Did you try to uninstall the old version and manually remove the /opt/Openoffice.org dir?
Comment 20 Paul de Vrieze (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-08-23 03:57:44 UTC
I'm really really waiting for a sensible installation system comming with 2.0 ;-)
Comment 21 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-08-23 07:51:58 UTC
@pauldv: Let's just hope it REALLY comes with 2.0...
Comment 22 gbsl 2004-09-05 11:51:51 UTC
I had the same problem as described ("ACCESS DENIED unlink: /opt/OpenOffice.org/delme"). Removing /root/.sversionrc and /root/.openoffice worked for me (portage synced today).
Comment 23 Nicholas Jones (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-09-29 19:10:30 UTC
If this is still an issue, I'd suggest looking for the 'delme' reference in the binaries/source. Use 'strings' and grep.
Comment 24 Joe Kappus 2004-09-29 20:12:17 UTC
problem stopped happening when i redid my system a few months ago. Evidently it was having trouble removing something that none of you guys have mentioned.
Comment 25 Andreas Proschofsky (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-01-21 03:42:58 UTC
We have done everything we can here closing
