Description Brent White 2002-07-22 15:53:40 UTC
Hi,
I did the instructions for setting up PCMCIA support and that works fine, but
when I run the cardmgr command I get the following:
cs: IO probe 0x0100-0x04ff: excluding ox378-ox37f 0x4d0-ox4d7
cs: IO probe 0x0380-0x04cf: clean
cs: IO probe 0x04d8-0x04ff: clean
cs: IO probe 0x0800-0x08ff:

At this point it hangs and nothing responds. I left it sit as long as 1 hour
to ensure it did in fact hang. I did the setup several time using gentoo-ix86-
1.2.iso and the gentoo-i686-1.2.iso. I have a 3com 3c589c modle PCMCIA network
card. I went back through the install and did all the PCMCIA support steps
except for cardmgr, but when I tried to set up eth0 configuration for DHCP or
for static I get an error refering to the device not being found. I tried one
last thing and that was to go back to step one afetr adding PCMCIA support and
doing modprobe and come up with error 'can't locate module'. I hope this is
enough info and that you can offer some suggestions.

This should be fine on more recent liveCD installs.
Comment 2 Chris Gianelloni (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-03-25 11:24:45 UTC
Moving these so we can remove the "Install CD" component from "Gentoo Linux".

I apologize to everyone for this spam, but according to the bugzilla developers,
this is the only reasonable way to do this.
