Description Scott VanDeWater 2004-06-16 22:28:58 UTC
emerge samba with the following command:
USE="oav readline cups pam -python ldap -kerberos -xml acl -mysql" emerge net-fs/samba

emerge failed to install /etc/conf.d/samba and failed to install smbldap-tools. I made a best effort to review the ebuild file to find the problem, but as I am new to gentoo, only half understood what was going on.

In attempts to resolve the problem, I re-emerged the package without success. I eventually broke down and installed smbldap-tools from source, and copied conf.d/samba to the proper place.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. # USE="oav readline cups pam -python -ldap -kerberos -xml -acl -mysql" emerge net-fs/samba
2.
3.

Actual Results:
the smbldap-tools package was not installed, and neither was
the /etc/conf.d/samba file.

Expected Results:
Should have installed both the conf file and ldap-tools package.

can you try the latest (still masked) samba-3.0.4-r1 ebuild ? It was nearly completely rewritten, and should work better :)

Comment 2 Christian Andreetta (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-06-19 05:05:58 UTC
in a couple of days we plan to mark samba-3.0.4-r1 stable on x86.
Please reopen this bug if you encounter the same problems on that version.
