I have the same problem when trying to emerge qdox, it seems to be because jflex installs itself as jflex-<version> (e.g. jflex-1.6 for version 1.6) and the first line of qdox's src_compile() asks for a jflex unsuffixed, as seen in the error message.

Hello guys, i found the same problem during the installation of netbeans-8.0.2: 

the qdox build log: https://bpaste.net/show/07f407bea74f
the jflex build log: https://bpaste.net/show/b0b50299da0f

qdox look for /usr/bin/jflex, but the jflex binary are located as:

/usr/bin/jflex-1.4.3
/usr/bin/jflex-1.6

I don't see any "eselect or --config" to select the right binary. A workaround to solve the problem could create a symlink to the bin, adding it to the path:

ln -s /usr/bin/jflex-1.6 /usr/bin/jflex

mars realnot # which jflex
/usr/bin/jflex

This permit to emerge qdox and netbeans properly.

sorry for this. fixed jlex has been just committed to the tree, it's 1.4.3-r2. it will get automatically emerged if you have or need jflex:0 installed and then the things should work fine again. if not, please reopen this bug.

The repositories contains the version 1.4.3-r2. Just tested and works properly. Thanks for the rapid support! The Gentoo developers are always one step ahead!

The only solution that worked was:
ln -s /usr/bin/jflex-1.6 /usr/bin/jflex

It seems that the /usr/bin/jflex is the only input that is accepted. The links would need to be updated on each new development unless fixed. 

Mauro Crociara try to retest by removing your link, then reinstall the packages and see what the results are.

Paul have you sinced your tree and eix? sync your tree, unmerge jflex and try to do a full update:"emerge -avNDu @ world", netbeans and other packages will take the right jflex

After the sync the new slot 0 became 1.4.3-r2
