Workaround is to disable the analyzer applet in $HOME/.kde/share/config/amarok_homerc.

Which OpenGL driver are you using?

x11-drivers/xf86-video-nouveau-1.0.11 on an antique NVIDIA Corporation GT216 [GeForce GT 220] (rev a2), to your earlier question: i am using the vlc backend for kde media-libs/phonon-vlc-0.7.2
Comment 7 Peter Levine 2016-01-21 05:49:07 UTC
I've had this for the past month testing media-sound/amarok:4 and media-sound/amarok-9999:4::kde.

I've finally fixed it on my end. It seemed that the mere presence of media-libs/gstreamer:0.10 and anything in media-plugins/gst-plugins-meta:0.10 caused this for me. When I got rid of that and took away everything that depended on that specific slot (for me, dev-qt/qtwebkit:4[-gstreamer]), and kept the 1.0 gstreamer slotted packages, amarok started fine. The equalizer also works which was my main objective.

Seems to be related to https://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=327465 and https://bugs.archlinux.org/task/37721

Please disregard. This is related to a crash with gstreamer phonon backend
Comment 9 Johannes Huber (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2016-04-29 09:45:56 UTC
According to upstream bug report this should be fixed in 2.8.1 in later we have 2.8.90 in tree. Could somebody please confirm?
