After month or two i decided to upgrade my gentoo system, and issued "emerge -av --deep --update --newuse --with-bdeps=y world", then i saw something like this .... some progs .... CHROMIUM-40.0 .... some other progs .... GCC-4.8.1 .... again some other progs ... I agreed, then chromium ran his own pre-checks and bails out, because "chromium requires gcc-4.8". Well, i have only gcc-4.7, but... gcc-4.8.1 will compile later. Why can't portage compile gcc first, and then compile chromium with it? Portage has no facility for auto-running gcc-config after a new gcc slot is installed. Also, depending on toolchain is a bad idea. This removes the possibility of building with a cross-compiler, or simply using a different compiler altogether (clang).
