Description Craig Chasseur 2004-06-14 20:19:40 UTC
I recently emerged KDE-3.2.3 on my system (using GCC-3.4.0-r6, gentoo-dev-sources-2.6.5-r1, xorg-x11 6.7.0-r1, qt 3.3.2, etc...). Whenever I try to open an MP3 file using any of the KDE media players (noatun, kaboodle, and juk), the system locks up completely (no keyboard or mouse response, ctrl-C, ctrl-alt-del, ctrl-alt-backspace do nothing), and I have to manually reboot. Playing ogg vorbis and wav files works fine, however. The bug only affects mp3 playback.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Emerge kdemultimedia-3.2.3 (using the system software mentioned above)
2. Open an MP3 file using noatun, kaboodle, or juk

Actual Results:
System locked up completely, requiring cold-reboot.

Expected Results:
Banging beats.

Does it happen too, when you recompile qt, kde* and other related ebuilds with CFLAGS="-march=athlon-xp -pipe -Os"? If not, then it is your local problem.

maybe `revdep-rebuild -p` helps, but this is a local problem for sure
