When trying to open a local file using the Open... menu command, Epiphany crashes. It can open the file perfectly well as my home page (set prior to upgrade), and Mozilla can open the same file perfectly well through the dialog. GNOME, Terminal, and Evolution running. This is a PPC-Stable system, recently updated, with gnome-spell and pan from unstable. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Launch Epiphany 2. Use the Open... command to open a local html file. 3. Actual Results: Epiphany crashed. Expected Results: Opened the file as a web page. emerge info: Portage 2.0.50-r8 (default-ppc-2004.0, gcc-3.3.3, glibc-2.3.3.20040420-r0, 2.4.24-ppc-r2) ================================================================= System uname: 2.4.24-ppc-r2 ppc 7455, altivec supported Gentoo Base System version 1.4.16 Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.58-r1 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.8.3 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="ppc" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O2 -pipe -mcpu=7400 -maltivec -mabi=altivec" CHOST="powerpc-unknown-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -pipe -mcpu=7400 -maltivec -mabi=altivec" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="ccache" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.oregonstate.edu http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X alsa berkdb bonobo canna cjk cups dvd esd foomaticdb freewnn gdbm gif gnome gnome-libs gpm gtk gtk2 gtkhtml guile imlib java jpeg kde libwww mitshm motif mozilla nls oggvorbis opengl oss pam perl png ppc python qt readline sdl slang spell ssl tcpd truetype unicode xml2 xmms xv"
Have you tried using strace to check where epiphany crashes? Is it missing a file, or is it a segmentation fault? If so, you might try to rebuild the packages epiphany is linked against. Use ldd to find out which libraries are in use.
I recently updated the stable version of epiphany in portage. Can you try remerging it and see if it fixed the problem?
