I see two things in this bug, one on our side and one configuration issue on your system: Please upgrade to nfs-utils-1.3.1-r4. The issue was that nfsclient also provided nfsmount. OpenRC doesn't like it when there is a virtual that also has an actual service by the same name. The other issue I saw was that you have both netmount and autofs running. This would explain why the file systems were mounted, but we do not support running both. Please remove either netmount or autofs from your runlevels depending on the information in the published news item. Once all of that is done, please report back. Thanks,] William
nfs-utils-1.3.1-r4 fixes the problem here. I use autofs and nfsclient for different purpose. The nfs mounts are defined in the fstab and are shares from a local fileserver that need to be always mounted. Autofs on the other hand, does only mount some samba shares which are provided over a VPN connection (which is somewhat unreliable) and the shares are not used very often. Therefore is use autofs to mount them. Is this combination a problem in any way? my auto.master file only includes the two samba shares. Is there some hidden magic that autofs also mounts net filesystems form fstab? If so we should state it in the wiki [1]. [1] http://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/AutoFS

The netmount script is about mounting things defined in fstab for stable connections while autofs has its own config files and is used for mounts that come and go on connections that are often unstable.

Thanks for pointing that out. William
I think this should be fixed in nfs-utils-1.3.1-r4 now.
