I had a bit of trouble setting up the chroot, so I think it might be nice to provide a sample /etc/fstab section for the chroot: # 32bit chroot /mnt/raid0/linux32 /mnt/gentoo32 auto bind 0 0 /dev /mnt/gentoo32/dev auto bind 0 0 /dev/pts /mnt/gentoo32/dev/pts auto bind 0 0 /proc /mnt/gentoo32/proc auto bind 0 0 /proc/bus/usb /mnt/gentoo32/proc/bus/usb auto bind 0 0 /sys /mnt/gentoo32/sys auto bind 0 0 /tmp /mnt/gentoo32/tmp auto bind 0 0 /home /mnt/gentoo32/home auto bind 0 0
Grr, we have to fix docs first to be dtd compliant...
jhuebel: I don't think we need this in the documentation... Whoever wants to create a chroot shall get their infos from the forums or from google. (This is amd64 documentation !)
well, i think it'd be nice as there are a few caevets that even I missed (forgetting /proc/bus/usb and /dev/pts for instance)... and the chroot documentation is already started in those technotes, so might as well expand it a little...
I have plans to overhaul the technotes soon anyway. We'll add a little more detail to the chroot section. But I don't want that section to turn into a full-blown installation guide.
i think we could expand upon and fix http://dev.gentoo.org/~lv/setup-gentoo-chroot then the entirety of the guide would just be a howto on using that script :)
Closing. The compatibility guide is only a brief guide. There are no plans to expand it beyond what it is at the moment.
