I had a dangling sym link in /etc/runlevely/default, from distccd, which I removed, but forgot to remove from the runlevels as well. That led to the fact that rc-update did not work correctly anymore in displaying the runlevel summary. Removing the dangling link fixed it. Anyways, a dangling link must not break rc-update :-) deltaweb root@mx ~ # rc-update -V rc-update (OpenRC) 0.13.8 (Gentoo Linux) deltaweb root@mx ~ # rc-update bootmisc | boot devfs | sysinit dmesg | sysinit fsck | boot hostname | boot hwclock | boot keymaps | boot killprocs | shutdown kmod-static-nodes | sysinit localmount | boot loopback | boot modules | boot mount-ro | shutdown mtab | boot net.lo | boot procfs | boot root | boot savecache | shutdown shorewall | boot swap | boot swapfiles | boot sysctl | boot sysfs | sysinit termencoding | boot tmpfiles.dev | sysinit tmpfiles.setup | boot udev | sysinit urandom | boot deltaweb root@mx ~ # rc-update -v acpid | amavisd | amavisd-milter | autofs | bacula-fd | bootmisc | boot busybox-ntpd | busybox-watchdog | clamd | consolefont | dcc | devfs | sysinit device-mapper | dmesg | sysinit dmeventd | dovecot | fail2ban | fsck | boot git-daemon | haveged | hdm-milter | hostname | boot hwclock | boot ip6tables | ipset | iptables | irqbalance | keymaps | boot killprocs | shutdown kmod-static-nodes | sysinit lldpd | local | localmount | boot loopback | boot lvm | lvm-monitoring | lvmetad | memcached | mit-krb5kadmind | mit-krb5kdc | mit-krb5kpropd | modules | boot monit | motd | mount-ro | shutdown mtab | boot net.eth0 | net.lo | boot netmount | nfs | nfsclient | nscd | ntp-client | ntpd | numlock | opendkim | opendkim.sign | opendkim.verify | opendmarc | outgoingd | postfix | postgresql-9.3 | postsrsd | procfs | boot pwcheck | pydoc-2.7 | pydoc-3.4 | redis | root | boot rpc.gssd | rpc.idmapd | rpc.pipefs | rpc.statd | rpc.svcgssd | rpcbind | rsyncd | rsyslog | saslauthd | savecache | shutdown shorewall | boot smfs | snmpd | snmptrapd | sntp | spamd | sshd | swap | boot swapfiles | boot swclock | sysctl | boot sysfs | sysinit termencoding | boot tlsdate | tlsdated | tmpfiles.dev | sysinit tmpfiles.setup | boot udev | sysinit unbound | urandom | boot vixie-cron | vrfydmn | zabbix-agentd | Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. I have read this bug several times, but I'm not understanding what the issue is. Also, this was filed against a pretty old version of OpenRC. Can you please test against current stable and let me know if the issue still exists? Also, a specific description of what you see and what you expect to see would be helpful. Thanks much. William
