Emerge ut2004 attempts to load files from the cd from folders such as Animations and System, while in the cdrom they are animations and system. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.mount cd 2.emerge ut2004 Actual Results: Failed do to no such file or directory Expected Results: thats what it should of done because it was told the incorrect case via the .ebuild I simply changed the case for all affected files in the ebuild.
Where did you buy your CD/DVD? Mine (and everyone else's I've ever seen) has the capitalization in it.
I have been fighting this problem for a few days now. There are a few indications that the problem is in the kernel config. http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=192186&highlight=export+ut2004 The second to last post in this topic says that the problem was solved by compiling the Microsoft Joilet into the kernel. http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=184055&highlight=export+ut2004 This person solved the problem with something in his kernel that allows linux to read uppercase letters on the CDROM, does not say what. I found another quote from another forum, where the person filed a bug was told to make sure that Micrsoft Joilet and Transparent Decompression Extensions are compiled into the kernel. So I took all this info and recompiled the kernel making sure Micrsoft Joilet and Transparent Decompression Extensions are compiled into the kernel. For me it is still NOT working. The files on the cdrom appear to be all lower case. I know that it works two weeks ago I had it running on the exact same hardware with RedHat installed. So I beleive that there is something in the kernel or some setting that is not allowing me to see the true case of the files and directorys on the CDs. I hope this helps. Shane
Have you tried enabling cp437, iso8559-1, and utf8 in your kernel?
REOPEN if you have more info, otherwise there is nothing I can do.
