if gnome-vfs is emerged with USE="samba", then gnome-vfs-extras should refuse to emerge.... if you install gnome-vfs, then also install gnome-vfs-extras, and after that you try to install gnome-vfs again, it will tell you that it cannot be done because gnome-vfs-extras is already installed. but this conflict should also be on the other way around. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. USE="samba" emerge gnome-vfs 2. emerge gnome-vfs-extras Actual Results: gnome-vfs-extras emerged correctly Expected Results: gnome-vfs-extras should refuse to emerge with a conflict
why would you install gnome-vfs-extras when you already have samba support i wonder ? Yes it should maybe, but it's an unlikely chain of events and eventually gnome-vfs-extras will dissapear. What if you choose to use gnome-vfs-extras samba support and compile gnome-vfs USE=-samba ? We cannot work with that situation so the blocks are one way directed, because the other situation cannot be handled by portage.
