Re: - Experimental support for 64-bit host operating systems on AMD and Intel processors with x86 64-bit extensions I tried it out, but didn't get very far... has anyone had luck with this on amd64? $ vmware-config.pl <snip> What is the location of the directory of C header files that match your running kernel? For now, I am going to leave this as -amd64 and I will contact VMware about the amd64 support. I know that a lot of users have been waiting for this release, so I'm going to find out what I can about the amd64 support. You can track progress of the amd64 support in bug #53879
Nope..still error for me...I did emerged sync,ebuild...nou luck
bash-2.05b# emerge vmware-workstation Calculating dependencies ...done! >>> emerge (1 of 1) app-emulation/vmware-workstation-4.5.1.7568-r1 to / >>> md5 src_uri ;-) VMware-workstation-4.5.1-7568.tar.gz !!! No message digest entry found for file "vmware-any-any-update73.tar.gz." !!! Most likely a temporary problem. Try 'emerge sync' again later. !!! If you are certain of the authenticity of the file then you may type !!! the following to generate a new digest: !!! ebuild /usr/portage/category/package/package-version.ebuild digest
emerge sync and try again... also, in the future, do a search or post a new bug... that was actually already reported (and I fixed it this morning)... The only information that should be posted in a bug are things pertaining to that bug, otherwise it makes it impossible to track. For instance, this bug was to have a new version of vmware added. It was added. This bug is closed. If there is a problem with that ebuild, then it is a new bug. =]
