Description Florian Effenberger 2004-06-13 06:32:38 UTC
Samba doesn't compile with QT dependency when QT has not been built yet. QT aborts with an error message, seems some libraries are missing. If I do an "emerge qt", it works fine, as then some more unresolved dependencies are being built before qt and then it works.

Unfortunately, I don't have access to the machine anymore, so I cannot give out more log files or settings. :-(

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

2.

This seems strange for me, i never heared QT support in samba, and grepping the sources did not reveal anything. Also QT seems to be have no support for samba (kdenetwork probably has)

Can you give more specific information ?

I'll try to reconstruct the best I can :-)

My use flags are (for sure, because I wrote them down!): 3dnow aalib accessibility acl acpi aim alsa apm arts avi berkdb bidi bonobo caps cdr cjk crypt cups curl dga doc dvb dvd dvdr emacs emacs-w3 encode esd ethereal evo fam fbcon flac flash foomaticdb gb gd gdbm ggi gif gnome gphoto2 gpm gtk gtk2 gtkhtml icq imap imagemagick imlib ipv6 jabber java jpeg junit kde ladcca lcms ldap leim libg++ libgda libwww lirc mad mbox mcal mikmod memlimit mmx motif lesstif mozilla mpeg mpi msn mysql nas ncurses nls nocd odbc oggvorbis opengl oscar oss pam pda ppds pdflib perl png prelude python qt quicktime readline samba sasl scanner sdl slang slp snmp socks5 speex spell sse ssl svgalib tcltk tcpd tetex theora tiff truetype unicode usb vhosts videos wmf wxwindows X Xaw3d xface xinerama xosd xml xml2 xmms xv yahoo zlib

I installed the stage3, then did an emerge -u world and emerged the following packages: anacron logrotate iptables openssh lynx xfree mailx traceroute bind-tools ntp netkit-telnetd netkit-fingerd mirrorselect cups samba alsa-oss alsa-utils

When Samba was emerged, qt was compiled first and I received an error about double declarations or so. I played around a bit, and a manual "emerge qt" and then "emerge samba" did it...

Hope that helps!

Hmm, it sounds more a QT bug, than samba one, maybe there is some depency problem due to the huge use flag list, sending a CC to the QT maintainer

Sorry, i can't reproduce it here in any way, and no other similar bug reports. Closing it for now, if you have detailed info (the actual error, emerge log, etc ..), please reopen it.
