Invoking emerge today results in:
 * Digest verification failed:
 * /usr/portage/sys-apps/portage/portage-2.2.14.ebuild
 * Reason: Filesize does not match recorded size
 * Got: 11345
 * Expected: 11351

Please report which rsync mirror you used.

Aha. I was using the rsync.fr.gentoo.org rotation. When I read your comment I sitched to the defaul (ie. country-agnostic) rotation and the problem went away. It was reported on IRC that the de mirrors might be affected too.

Hit the problem with the DE rotating mirrors. Sadly output is gone, so I cannot pinpoint the exact mirror any more.

It happened in two consecutive sync attempts, but went away in the third sync roughly 10 minutes later.
