from mesa-10.4.0 configure: egl_gallium has been removed and OpenVG hasn't been integrated into standard libEGL yet.

Because of that it was removed from mesa-10.4.2.ebuild.

So openvg in cairo has to be disabled too if used with that new mesa versions.
Comment 2 Alexandre Rostovtsev (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2015-02-18 07:41:59 UTC
This emerge conflict is an example of what can happen if you enable strange experimental USE flags when you don't know why you need them :)

Cairo's openvg backend is experimental, hasn't seen much attention for several years, and really should not be used by people who are not working on some openvg development. I've now package.use.masked it.

+  18 Feb 2015; Alexandre Rostovtsev <tetromino@gentoo.org> package.use.mask:
+ Mask cairo[openvg], experimental backend, no longer supported with
+  >=mesa-10.4 (bug #536434)

Thanks for the clarification. If I'd know it's an experimental feature, I promise I had never enabled the USE flag. I often consult use.local.desc, but there had been no signs of experimentalness. And I didn't do the homework to dig myself into. BR: Dw.
