Just curios what video card(s) are in this machine?
Graph card An ATI Radeon 32MB mac edition PCI version, basically the same as an Radeon 7000 without the dual monitor possibility. I tried both 'boot' and 'boot-safe', and got exactly the same result.
There is a new ISO coming in the very near future, is in testing right now which should solve this problem.
Feel free to test the kernel at http://www.gentoo.org/~trance/ppc-kernels either 19 or 20 should work for you. Please give it a try, as that box has known issues with linux due to the dual nature of its board design.

Going to close this one, the new ISO has been tested on this hardware and I got an email from the reporter as follows: Sorry. I sold that machine yesterday. Probably going to get a pc, might be I'm gonna run gentoo linux on it. Thx for the update! Real pity, would have loved to try this. Frank
