The index of the glib documentation in /usr/share/gtk-doc/html/glib/ is blank in default installation, while for example was ok in 2.4.0. Simply copying the file present in the glib-2.4.1.tar.bz2 in the correct position solves the problem. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge glib-2.4.1 2. 3. Actual Results: Missing index Expected Results: Working index The same problom was for the last 2.2 glib
In my system, that is not the case. It seems like your manual wasn't re-built correctly, which could be for a number of reasons. Please provide a log from emerging glib on your system, and the output from 'emerge info' (which should be in every bug report, after all). Thanks.
Hello, I will proceed to attach the log of emerge log in a successive attachment, here I bring emerge info ################################ Portage 2.0.50-r7 (default-x86-1.4, gcc-3.3.2, glibc-2.3.2-r9, 2.4.26) ================================================================= System uname: 2.4.26 i686 Pentium III (Coppermine) Gentoo Base System version 1.4.10 distcc 2.13 i686-pc-linux-gnu (protocols 1 and 2) (default port 3632) [disabled] ccache version 2.3 [enabled] Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.59-r3 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.8.3 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-march=pentium3 -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="gcc3" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.1/share/config /usr/kde/3.2/share/config /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/qmail/control" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /usr/X11R6/bin/startx /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-march=pentium3 -O3 -pipe -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/mnt/gentoo_distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs ccache fixpackages sandbox" GENTOO_MIRRORS=" http://ftp.belnet.be/mirror/rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo http://ftp.snt.utwente.nl/pub/os/linux/gentoo http://gentoo.oregonstate.edu/ http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/Linux/distributions/gentoo" MAKEOPTS="-j3" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="/usr/local/portage" SYNC="rsync://rsync.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="X alsa atlas auctex avi berkdb bonobo cdr crypt cups doc drac dvd emacs emacs-w3 encode esd ethereal evo faad fftw flac foomaticdb gdbm gif ginac gnome gnomedb gpm gtk gtk2 gtkhtml guile hbci imagemagick imap imlib java joystick jpeg ldap leim libg++ libgda libwww mad mikmod motif mozilla moznocompose moznoirc mpeg mpi mule music ncurses nls ofx oggvorbis opengl pam pda pdflib perl plotutils png python qt readline samba sdl slang slp spell sse ssl svga tcltk tcpd tetex tiff truetype usb wmf x86 xml xml2 xmms xv xvid zlib" ########################### I did not include it in the previous because since glib-2.4.0 was working correctly with the same settings, so I thought it was either a problem of ebuild or of the new tar distribution in itself. Created attachment 32907 [details] emerge glib-2.4.1 log This emerge does not produce the indexing in /usr/share/gtk-doc/html/glib/ix01.html
how is this with a later glib version ? docs guys : could you have a look if its still a problem ?
Fine for me glib-2.4.5, from the log it looks like the docs actually are built correctly (for once I guess). Please try updating your version of glib
Hello Mr. Gardiner. I emerged ~glib.2.4.5 and the ix01 page is still not built. But I found out that the following ix01.html files are not built as well: /usr/share/gtk-doc/html/glib/ix01.html /usr/share/gtk-doc/html/gobject/ix01.html /usr/share/gtk-doc/html/pango/ix01.html /usr/share/gtk-doc/html/gdk-pixbuf/ix01.html /usr/share/gtk-doc/html/gdk/ix01.html /usr/share/gtk-doc/html/gtk/ix01.html So my problem is possibly more general and not linked to glib in particular. Attaching the log, there are some warnings, could be them the reason? Best Regards

Hello, emerging glib 2.4.7 the index has been correctly generated, and re-emerging pango and gtk+ fixes the other indices shown in comment #6. So, whichever problem was, got fixed in the meanwhile.
