We have a bunch of servers with bnx2 NICs that need linux-firmware and I always forget to emerge it before I reboot. But then I remember when I have no network. Other NICs don't need the firmware, though, so it's not really *necessary*.

I'd probably mention it under "Installing Necessary System Tools" in the handbook.

Thanks. I've added it in the instructions on kernel configuration, as the firmware is closely tied to the kernel drivers.
