Description PeterDaveHello 2014-11-11 03:00:07 UTC
Hi there,

I'm Peter from ftp.yzu.edu.tw, we just start to provide mirror for gentoo at

{http,ftp,rsync}://ftp.yzu.edu.tw/Linux/gentoo/
{http,ftp,rsync}://ftp.yzu.edu.tw/Linux/gentoo-portage/

Would you please add this mirror on the list?

The mirror name is Yuan Ze University, location is Taiwan, we have 1Gb/s bandwidth, currently we support ipv4 only.

Regards,
Peter

Hello,

thanks for bearing with us during our freeze on mirror additions.

Could you quickly confirm that your request to become a community mirror is
still current.

We expect to begin testing new mirrors soon.
As your mirror is located in a sparsely-covered region, you'd be among the
first ones to be added.

I have spotted one problem though: For your mirror to be a rsync mirror, we'd need the gentoo-portage module to be available at rsync://ftp.yzu.edu.tw/gentoo-portage/.
Please let us know if you can make that happen, otherwise we can still list you as a distfile mirror.

Thanks!

Done

Your mirror is now being actively tested. This period will initially last two
weeks. We will inform you about any issues we find with your mirror. Please be
responsive and resolve them at your earliest convenience. If the testing
completes successfully, your mirror will be added to the appropriate rotations.

Issues:
You don not meet any of our sync interval requirements.

For distfiles (/gentoo/):
"All mirrors must be synchronized every four hours, starting at midnight in your local time zone."

For rsync (/gentoo-portage/):
"Your mirror needs to update every 30 minutes: Once between :00 and :10, and once between :30 and :40. Updates need to be exactly 30 minutes apart (for instance at :08 and at :38)."

This is not fixed, updates seem to be happening every 12 hours.

rsync is fine now.

hmmm ... I changed to use another nearby mirror as upstream, let's see if this will be good now

Tests look rather good by now.

One more thing though:
We have very recently updated the rsync update procedure: Please include '--checksum' in the update job for the rsync mirror (cf. https://archives.gentoo.org/gentoo-mirrors/message/01de7f043018783072fd8834ef99576f) and let us know on this bug when you have enabled it. Thanks!

Okay added.

Demand for mirrors is not large, so we do not need additional mirrors at this time. Thank you for your consideration.
