Description ipacheco1995 2014-11-05 14:28:53 UTC
All /{s,}bin, /usr/{s,}bin contents dissappear after using cd to mounted partition. Possibility that it is just after mounting the partition.

Note: KVM/Qemu Guest install attempt, x86_64.

ISO file: install-amd64-minimal-20141030.iso

Steps to reproduce:
    1.- Boot iso.
    2.- Partition disk
    3.- Mount root in /mnt
    4.- cd into /mnt
    5.- Try to use ls

The only command that proved to work is cd, not even init or reboot/shutdown. Impossible to install after this.

please don't cc the arch teams, they have nothing to do here.

Let me clarify 2 points:

1. what are you trying to mount?
2. are you really mounting some partition under /mnt?

If you're doing 2, iirc, there was at least at one point a bug that the system would stop responding if you mounted anything on /mnt. I suggest you try mounting whatever you're trying to mount on /mnt/gentoo as documented.

I've lowered the priority as I'm almost sure this is an invalid bug, but I'll wait for the feedback before confirming and closing the bug.

The disk I partitioned had 3 partitions: the boot partition (ext4), the root partition (ext4) and the swap partition. I mounted the root partition when the bug appeared. I should have said that before.

I'll try it and let's see if it works.

Fake bug. Only happens when you dont mount into /mnt/gentoo.
