Description JanisA 2014-11-05 12:16:50 UTC
when virtmanager connects to libvirtd connection terminates with error message:

"Error polling connection 'xen+ssh://root@10.0.0.10/': internal error: Could not get interface information for 'vif1.0', which is a member of bridge 'br0'"

and libvirtd.log shows:

2014-11-04 20:45:47.911+0000: 3392: error : virFileReadAll:1289 : Failed to open file '/proc/net/vlan/vif1.0': No such file or directory
2014-11-04 20:45:47.911+0000: 3392: error : udevGetIfaceDefBridge:944 : internal error: Could not get interface information for 'vif1.0', which is a member of bridge 'br0'

If all virtual instances stops then connection is successful.

in previous versions there wasn't such problem

Reproducible: Always

This sound like the following upstream bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1133331
Comment 2 Matthias Maier gentoo-dev 2014-11-05 23:29:40 UTC
Please attach the output of $ emerge --info virt-manager
Comment 3 JanisA 2014-11-06 11:30:28 UTC
Yes it looks like the same bug: https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1133331

And virt-manager connection is from Ubuntu 14.10 desktop - so I think there is no use from "emerge --info virt-manager"... (problem appeared after getnoo upgrade and virt-manager version didn't change)

 ~ # emerge --info virt-manager

Comment 4 JanisA 2014-11-06 11:34:01 UTC
I've tried upgrading to libvrirt-1.2.10 without any results
Comment 5 Matthias Maier gentoo-dev 2014-11-06 22:57:08 UTC
"without any results", i.e. it doesn't fix the problem?

You could politely ping on the upstream bug tracker to raise awareness (or at least for some noise) :-]
Comment 6 JanisA 2015-02-18 19:25:40 UTC
just tried everything and found solution
you have to rename network interfaces and it will work

i have added this line... <target dev='vif-13-0'/> which specifies network interface name.

Sample from configuration:
--------.................-------------
    <interface type='bridge'>
      <mac address='00:16:3e:ff:0b:17'/>
      <source bridge='br0'/>
      <target dev='vif-13-0'/>
    </interface>

And now i have interface names like this: vif-13-0 / vif-13-0-emu - earlyer it was vif.13-0...

and now this command works like it should: virsh iface-dumpxml br0

i think this is releated with this bugfix.... https://bugzilla.redhat.com/show_bug.cgi?id=966329 but i am not shore

I'll close as "resolved upstream". If there is any update/change that requires downstream actions (packaging, patch backports, etc.), please reopen.
