when the system boots, it says (from dmesg):

Steps to Reproduce:
1.install Quantum VS160 tape drive
2.insert tape
3.boot 

Actual Results:  
scsi0:A:5:0: DV failed to configure device.  Please file a bug report
against this driver.


Expected Results:  
I don't know, but probably not asked for a bug report.

added version 2004.1, but also happened with 2.4 kernels in 1.4

Could you please file a bug with the upstream kernel developers at bugme.osdl.org? We don't maintain the upstream sources where the st driver is maintained, so your best bet is to file a bug there to get this solved. Thanks!
