Description Pawel Dluzewski 2004-06-02 00:46:59 UTC
After installing the base system from stage 1 I wanted to install KDE.
During
emerge --usepkg kde
I obtained trace (I am rewritting manually form monitor)

... control.lo libfiletypes.la -lkio
make [3] *** [kcm_filetypes.la] Segmentation fault
make [3] *** Waiting for unfinished job ...
make [3] Leaving
directory `/var/tmp/portage/kdebase-3.2.2/work/kdebase-3.2.2/kcontrol/filetypes'
make [2] Leaving directory ....

make [1] *** [all recursive] Error 1

...

!!! ERROR: kde-base/kde-base/kdebase-3.2.2 failed
!!! Function kde_scr_compile, Line 129, Exicode 2
!!! died running emake, kde_scr_compile:make

During instalation I have chosen UTF8 fonts as defaults. Besides in Bugzilla I have never found the link to kcm_filetypes.la while I've fond many traces for kcm_filetype.la (without s). Maybe this an error.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

During instalation I have chosen UTF8 fonts as defaults. Besides I have never
found the link to kcm_filetypes.la while in bugzilla I've fond many links to
kcm_filetype.la (without s). May be this is an error in the installing script.
Sorry I am a new in Gentoo, what should I do?

this wasn't from a package, this was from source

segmentation fault a is problem with your compiler - what cflags did you use?? emerge info??

emerge info > my_emerge_info

Just I have attached my emerge info file, see attached my_emerge_info. My
CFLAGs are rather a standard. I am a new in gentoo but I would like to start
work at least on this distribution. By the way, During the second try to emerge
-usepkg KDE I have obtained the following message
make[3] *** [libkdeinit_kxkb.la] Segmentation fault

I have not mouse working yet, besides UTF8 I have chosen as the default fonts
during the gentoo instalation (kernel parameters as far as I remember).

this is all local compilation issue related.
