When I emerge the midnight commander
[ebuild N ] app-misc/mc-4.6.0-r7 -X -gpm +ncurses -nls +samba +slang
I get the following error message:

I added a link to the mentioned file as
http://www.kwisatz-haderach.de/downloads/mc-4.6.0-sambalib.patch.bz2-753.out

I had an identical problem with -r5, as reported in bug# 49890. The bug was fixed an closed, but the fix never worked for me.

please clean your distfiles and try again
Comment 3 Frank Reidel 2004-06-03 11:09:09 UTC
OK, after cleaning up, this seems to be empty. I also cleaned am mc dirs in /var/tmp/portage.

The Patch output of the second run

Just in case this is of any use to you, here is the file that was created
during patching =)
Comment 5 Heinrich Wendel (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-06-13 02:48:57 UTC
sorry, i cannot reproduce that, neither can i find anybody who can
Comment 6 Heinrich Wendel (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-08-01 08:00:35 UTC
do you still get this error?
Comment 7 Frank Reidel 2004-08-01 17:04:33 UTC
No, not any more. I gave somewhat up on mc, and started to do some cleaning up of my installed packages. I wondered why I still had X installed. I was shure I did not need it. Asked in the forum, and somebody recommended the dep utility from http://home.jesus.ox.ac.uk/~ecatmur/my-bin/ , since qpkg does not seem to list all reverse dependencies. I also used the --depclean mode, and after an hour of work or so, it had removed MANY packages. Some days later I tried to install mc for a last time, and it patched without an error message. Now I can't reproduce the error anymore and have a working mc.
I can only guess, that the dep utility fixed something. Can't imagine what.
Comment 8 Frank Reidel 2004-08-01 17:06:43 UTC
And since I don't have this problem anymore, and no one else ever had it, I guess you can close this bug. Sorry to have bothered you.
Comment 9 Heinrich Wendel (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-08-02 00:26:40 UTC
the important thing is that it works for you now :)
