It looks as if paraview fails to build due to a linker warning:
DistributedDataFilter.cxx:(.text+0x2823): warning: memset used with constant zero length parameter

I'm using gcc-4.9.1

Warning being fatal is the result of '-Wl,--fatal-warnings', though this warning might be worth checking out.

This seems to be an upstream issue with gcc-4.9 and current glibc, see [1].

I've just added a patch that removes the -Wl,--fatal-warnings
