Comment 1 Jeroen Roovers (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2014-10-12 22:01:49 UTC
It already depends on >=gnome-base/libgtop-2:2= properly.

Please post your `emerge --info' output in a comment.

Comment 3 Andrew Church 2014-10-12 22:12:19 UTC
FWIW, the build completed successfully after a manual "emerge -1 libgtop". I assumed it was a missing dependency and didn't check whether libgtop was already installed, but emerge.log suggests it was:

1402448434:  ::: completed emerge (65 of 113) gnome-base/libgtop-2.30.0 to /

1413148832: *** Finished. Cleaning up...
1413148833: *** exiting successfully.

I suppose the previous install might have been botched for some reason.
Comment 4 Andrew Church 2014-10-12 23:14:19 UTC
I pulled out a backup with the state of my system before the libgtop reinstall, and libgtop-2.0.so* are indeed missing:

# ls -ld $(equery -C f gnome-base/libgtop | awk '{print $1}')
/bin/ls: cannot access /usr/lib64/libgtop-2.0.so: No such file or directory
/bin/ls: cannot access /usr/lib64/libgtop-2.0.so.10: No such file or directory

/bin/ls: cannot access /usr/lib64/libgtop-2.0.so.7.2.0: No such file or directory

drwxr-xr-x 250 root root 12288 Oct 1 04:49 /usr/include/
drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Jun 11 10:00 /usr/include/libgtop-2.0/
[...]

From looking at a couple of earlier backups, it seems that the libraries were missing (not installed, or perhaps wrongly deleted when the previous version was unmerged?) since the time libgtop-2.30.0 was previously installed. I don't think I would have done anything to them manually since I don't normally use any GNOME software beyond GTK+ (in fact, I wasn't even aware of libgtop's existence until this issue came up).
Comment 5 Matthias Maier gentoo-dev 2014-12-09 00:34:14 UTC
This is certainly not an issue with x11-wm/marco or its dependencies.
Most likely the missing library comes from an interrupted qmerge.

Please reopen if this problem shows up again.
