configure phases fails at:

configure: error: pkg-config missing sdl2 >= 2.0.0

After installing libsdl2 it passes.

Patch to ebuild to depend upon libsdl2 instead of plain libsdl

This patch to efl-1.11.2.ebuild pulls in libsdl2 and allows efl to build successfully.

This issue can be worked around by disabling the sdl use flag.

fixed in dev-libs/efl-1.12.2, should be on your local rsync within a few hours
