Malcolm, please do not submit tarballs to the bug system. Please obsolete your current attachment and add the individual ebuilds to this bug.  Please do NOT attach digests or  Changelogs or that stuff.

Libvisual ebuild

This obsoletes the first attach.

Please note that this is linked with other ebuilds (libvisual-xmms,
libvisual-nebulus, libvisual-plugins), which I'll add next.

Maybe this should be transformed in only one ebuild with multiple use flags
(xmms, plugins, nebulus, ...) ?

XMMS plugin

XMMS plugin to use libvisual framework. This enables xmms to display every
visualization supported by libvisual (as provided by libvisual-nebulus and
libvisual-plugins).

libvisual installe the libs in /usr/lib and completely ignores the --libdir option passed to configure.  I've started fixing it and have committed the fixes thus far to portage in package.mask, but I am running out of patience for this right now, so perhaps youu can work on it further...  otherwise I'll come back to it later...

the xmms plugin is now in portage... please use mirror://sourceforge/ instead of a direct URL to a specific sf mirror.   Also, be careful to list the correct LICENSE

please take a look at the media-plugins/libvisual-plugins ebuild I added to portage and use that as a base for fixing libvisual-nebulus and libvisual-gforce.

New versions of libvisual-* are now in portage (bug 81432).
libvisual-nebulus and libvisual-gforce are now obsoleted by libvisual-plugins,
it seems.
