Comment 2 Martin Schlemmer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-07-20 15:40:26 UTC
This is a problem with mplayer itself, as it still tries to install the
vidix stuff when they are not compiled.

I think reporting this to the upstream authors will be the best way to go.
Comment 3 Andreas Kotowicz 2002-07-24 05:21:04 UTC
i see. but isn't this package masked if emerge will fail all the time?
Comment 4 Martin Schlemmer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-07-24 12:59:05 UTC
It only fails in some cases, which seems to be kernel config related. It works
fine on both my boxes, and in gcc-3.1 chroot.
Comment 5 Andreas Kotowicz 2002-07-27 05:28:26 UTC
I don't think this has anything to do with kernel configuration as I couldn't
find anything about this on mplayer mailinglist.

i have the same problem of Andreas Kotowicz, same SO and same mplayer
version...
So, the problem exists.

PS: for now i'm using mplayer from cvs and it work fine when compiled with the

usual form ./configure + make + make install.
But also if i compile the pre5 it work well if manually compiled.

Thanks for help and.... fix it ! ;-)
Comment 7 Martin Schlemmer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-08-05 13:54:35 UTC
I never said there was no problem. What I did say, is that the Makefile
tries to install the vidix drivers when they were not compiled.
Comment 8 Stefano Zamprogno 2002-08-06 05:41:33 UTC
yes, sure, no prob :)
(PS: now there is mplayer pre6 out...what about.... :-)

Ciao !
Comment 9 Martin Schlemmer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-08-06 16:52:14 UTC
Try pre6. Makefile was still the same, so I patched ${S}/vidix/drivers/Makefile
not to fail if it cannot install the vidix drivers.
Comment 10 Stefano Zamprogno 2002-08-07 07:03:33 UTC
no, problem still persists :-(
also pre6 doesn't compile fine ...
Comment 11 Martin Schlemmer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-08-07 14:27:41 UTC
Comment #10 From Stefano Zamprogno: If you want me to try and help, include
a full error/compile log, thanks.
Comment 12 Andreas Kotowicz 2002-08-29 07:46:37 UTC
mplayer pre6 is out and compiles so I close this bug
