In order to move to this very new versoin of glibc, one is required to also use binutils 2.15. This is a new "line in the sand" requirements that steve munroe choose. (He's the ppc64 glibc maintainer)

20040527 was breaking even with binutils 2.15...

Could this be the line in the sand for Gentoo ?
binutils 2.15 <- Main release
glibc 2.3.3-20040529 <- Pre stuff until 2.3.3 release
gcc3.4.0 <- Main release

if we stick with gcc-3.3.3-hammer, support might get more and more difficult after a while. By going 3.4.0 we go on the mainline and file bugs on the main line.

This bug is solved by using glibc-20040529
shall we close this ?
