Hi, This is the first time I wanted to install giac (I need xcas for my child). Following the advice, I added fltk in the right place to portage.keywords. Anyway, my problem seems to be connected to tex : in fact, as you can see on the build.log, it fails at "/bin/sh: cas_el.tex: command not found", a few lines after "TEXINPUTS=.:$TEXINPUTS cas_el.tex". I've searched Internet for information about $TEXINPUTS, but it looks like its normal that it is empty. Maybe a patch should modify doc/el/Makefile... Thanks for your help. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: Just emerge giac... Actual Results: giac doesn't install. Expected Results: giac installs ! My emerge.info is : Portage 2.2.8-r2 (default/linux/x86/13.0/desktop/kde, gcc-4.7.3, glibc-2.19-r1, 3.14.0 i686) ================================================================= System uname: Created attachment 385608 [details] /tmp/portage/sci-mathematics/giac-1.1.0/temp/build.log This is the result of my emerge
Hi, After comparing to another computer, I've noticed that the variable $TEXINPUTS is not empty. I've added USE="latex" to ocaml, and now $TEXINPUTS="/usr/lib/ocaml/ocamldoc:". But it didin't change the result of installing... Another idea ?
I've found a solution (or maybe a workaround) : after adding latex to USE in /etc/make.conf, I've emerged and updated my whole world. Here are the applications selected : emerge -DNua --with-bdeps=y world These are the packages that would be merged, in order: Calculating dependencies... done! [Yes/No] Afterwards, giac compiled and install correctly, and I'm able to run xcas as I expected. So I think one of those applications is the one which blocked the compilation. Should I mark this bug to RESOLVED ?
Hellow, There are 3 weeks since I've proposed to mark this bug as RESOLEVD, if my solution is acceptable, and I've got no answer. Is there anybody around ?
Well there are people around. This is not solved. The failure was because giac is missing a build dependency for the doc. Your change of USE solved that but we don't know which of these packages was needed.
sci-mathematics/giac-1.7.0.1 is now in the main tree so I think we can call this obsolete. Please give the new version a try and report any problems you find!
