It's become necessary on newer kernels.  8.0.38 does not build against Linux 3.14.  Version bump requested.

This worked for me, along with the appropriate checksums.  Is there a different way to submit this, or am I breaking some sort of protocols by doing it from here?

The current latest r8168 does not compile with the current stable kernel (3.18). It would be nice to update this so that the package can at least be merge. See:

I have given up with this hope and bought an Intel NIC... :-(

Fixed. I have this hardware so I've taken this package on. Sorry it took so long.
