mozilla is THE open source browser used by most people.
macromedia itself says:

Macromedia Flash Player Download Center Linux
Browser: Mozilla and Mozilla compatible

isn't the "mozilla-flash" (or similar) name better now?

I think it's called "netscape"-flash because the plugin is intended for all browsers which use Netscape-style plugins, including Netscape proper, Mozilla, Firefox, Opera and perhaps others.

I don't think there is any real reason to change this at this point. Name changes for no real reason just put instability in the tree. Thanks for the suggestion though.

net-www/macromedia-flash sounds good. I you think twice, netscape-flash
makes no sense (at least for me) but well, I prefer the philosophy of "if
it works, leave it" i dont care a lot about names.

> there is any real reason to change this at this point.

Maybe some day it will exist some real reason or a point to change weird
names in packages. I can not figure out a real reason. (But somwhere inside
me says, yea a name change sound good)

> Name changes for no real reason just put instability in the tree
