actually the problem is here mips64-unknown-linux-gnu-gcc -pthread -shared -Wl,-O1 -Wl,--as-needed -L. -Wl,-O1 -Wl,--as-needed -L. -fno-strict-aliasing -O2 -march=mips64r2 -mplt -pipe -fwrapv -DNDEBUG -I. -IInclude -I/var/tmp/portage/dev-lang/python-2.7.8/work/Python-2.7.8/Include build/temp.linux-mips64-2.7/var/tmp/portage/dev-lang/python-2.7.8/work/Python-2.7.8/Modules/_sqlite/cache.o build/temp.linux-mips64-2.7/var/tmp/portage/dev-lang/python-2.7.8/work/Python-2.7.8/Modules/_sqlite/connection.o build/temp.linux-mips64-2.7/var/tmp/portage/dev-lang/python-2.7.8/work/Python-2.7.8/Modules/_sqlite/cursor.o build/temp.linux-mips64-2.7/var/tmp/portage/dev-lang/python-2.7.8/work/Python-2.7.8/Modules/_sqlite/microprotocols.o build/temp.linux-mips64-2.7/var/tmp/portage/dev-lang/python-2.7.8/work/Python-2.7.8/Modules/_sqlite/module.o build/temp.linux-mips64-2.7/var/tmp/portage/dev-lang/python-2.7.8/work/Python-2.7.8/Modules/_sqlite/prepare_protocol.o build/temp.linux-mips64-2.7/var/tmp/portage/dev-lang/python-2.7.8/work/Python-2.7.8/Modules/_sqlite/row.o build/temp.linux-mips64-2.7/var/tmp/portage/dev-lang/python-2.7.8/work/Python-2.7.8/Modules/_sqlite/statement.o build/temp.linux-mips64-2.7/var/tmp/portage/dev-lang/python-2.7.8/work/Python-2.7.8/Modules/_sqlite/util.o -L/usr/lib -L/usr/local/lib -L. -lsqlite3 -lpython2.7 -o build/lib.linux-mips64-2.7/_sqlite3.so /usr/lib/libsqlite3.so: error adding symbols: File in wrong format collect2: error: ld returned 1 exit status /usr/lib32 should have been used instead since this is a n32 build. We had similar problems in python in the past as well. @Python any idea?
setup.py has this, which is probably to blame here. if sqlite_incdir: sqlite_dirs_to_check = [ os.path.join(sqlite_incdir, '..', 'lib64'), os.path.join(sqlite_incdir, '..', 'lib'), os.path.join(sqlite_incdir, '..', '..', 'lib64'), os.path.join(sqlite_incdir, '..', '..', 'lib'), ] sqlite_libfile = self.compiler.find_library_file( sqlite_dirs_to_check + lib_dirs, 'sqlite3') if sqlite_libfile: sqlite_libdir = [os.path.abspath(os.path.dirname(sqlite_libfile))]
And this probably worked in the past because multilib support was only recently added to dev-db/sqlite.
(In reply to Mike Gilbert from comment #3) > And this probably worked in the past because multilib support was only > recently added to dev-db/sqlite. Hmm i am not sure about that. it's the first time I try to build python[sqlite] but it seems like a reasonable assumption.
Please test dev-lang/python-2.7.9_pre20140921::progress, which contains changes supposed to fix this problem.
I have updated the Gentoo patchset to include Arfrever's changes. Please confirm this is working now. + 22 Sep 2014; Mike Gilbert <floppym@gentoo.org> python-2.7.8.ebuild: + New patchset, should resolve bug 523072. Thanks for Arfrever for the updates. I will also need to update our 3.3 and 3.4 patchsets.
Thanks I will try this soon

(In reply to Toralf Förster from comment #8) Your build error is completely different; file a new bug.
I'm assuming this bug is fixed. Please reopen if that is not the case.
