Description Marcin Deranek 2014-09-03 19:07:26 UTC
Relatively recently I started seeing this annoying pop-up window:

"Failed to apply network settings
org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.Spawn.ChildExited:
Launch helper exited with unknown return code 1"

from blueman-applet. It turned out that /usr/libexec/blueman-mechanism has '#!/usr/bin/python ' as shebang (please not extra space at the end). This extra space confuses shebang fixing code as it tries to match with python$ which is not the case here:

debug output:
..
 * Fixing shebang in usr/libexec/blueman-mechanism.
+ read -r
+ LAST_E_CMD=einfo
+ return 0
+ [[ ! -n '' ]]
+ [[ #!/usr/bin/python == *python\ * ]]
+ sed -i -e '1s:python$:python2.7:' /var/tmp/portage/net-wireless/blueman-1.23_p20140717-r1/image/usr/libexec/blueman-mechanism
...

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge blueman
2.
3.

$ emerge --info

Oh, that's why it is happening! And I blamed bluez5 all the time ;).

Thanks for the report, I'll get straight to it and try to find a non-obscure solution :).

+  04 Sep 2014; Michał Górny <mgorny@gentoo.org> python-utils-r1.eclass,
+  tests/python-utils-r1.sh:
+ Preserve all whitespace in shebangs, and add regression test for that. Also,
+ prevent filename expansion when word-splitting it. Bug #522080.
