I have a 2 pages ps document composed of scanned images. I tried to convert it to PDF, both using kghostview's "print to PDF" both with "ps2pdf", but I get a 8,9Mb large file, while the source is 400kB.
Created attachment 32146 [details] the ps file
there are a lot of images in that file, so i think it is quite possible to get about 9mb
ehm.... HELLO? the original file is a few KB and I expect that the converted file is of a comparable size, too. That's what happens in all the other cases. And I get a 9+ Mb also if I try to do "print to ps", which should be exactly the same format. I created that file from a PDF (with 300+ pages) using the "print to file" option of Acrobat Reader 5 (linux version). If I tried to do the same with KGhostview and KPDF, i got a 9+ Mb file.
you could try ghostscript-afpl instead of ghostscript
is there an improvement with ghotscript-afpl?
please try if you get a smaller file with ghostscript-afpl
Tested with ghostscript-afpl-8.14-r1 and it doesn't fix it.
same on debian here, so nothing we can fix, sorry
