Description Alex Orange 2014-08-28 23:29:47 UTC
Trying to build sys-libs/pam-1.1.8-r2. Looks like something really messed up with the link command (looks like it's trying to link directories as object files). Getting the following error message:

/bin/sh ../libtool --tag=CC --mode=link i686-pc-linux-gnu-gcc -I/var/tmp/portage/sys-libs/pam-1.1.8-r2/work/Linux-PAM-1.1.8/libpam/include -I/var/tmp/portage/sys-libs/pam-1.1.8-r2/work/Linux-PAM-1.1.8/libpamc/include -I/var/tmp/portage/sys-libs/pam-1.1.8-r2/work/Linux-PAM-1.1.8/libpam_misc/include -O3 -pipe -march=atom -mtune=atom -W -Wall -Wbad-function-cast -Wcast-align -Wcast-qual -Wmissing-declarations -Wmissing-prototypes -Wpointer-arith -Wreturn-type -Wstrict-prototypes -Wwrite-strings -Winline -Wshadow -no-undefined -version-info 82:0:82 -Wl,--version-script=/var/tmp/portage/sys-libs/pam-1.1.8-r2/work/Linux-PAM-1.1.8/libpam_misc/libpam_misc.map -Wl,-O1 -Wl,--as-needed -Wl,--as-needed -Wl,--no-undefined -Wl,-O1 -o libpam_misc.la -rpath /usr/lib help_env.lo misc_conv.lo ../libpam/libpam.la

/usr/bin: file not recognized: Is a directory

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge -1av sys-libs/pam
2.
3.
Actual Results:
Fail with above error message.

Expected Results:
No failure, emerge completes successfully.

This looks like a standard SysRescueCD bug - that is $path is set.
Comment 2 Alex Orange 2014-08-29 18:19:30 UTC
Well, you sure intuited correctly. I was skipping the source /etc/profile step because that killed my chroot label that my .bashrc file was adding. I'm trying it again now. Is this a problem/feature of upstream? As far as I can tell the whole rest of my system got rebuild, a few packages didn't rebuild but I think they all depended on PAM.
Comment 3 Alex Orange 2014-08-29 18:27:11 UTC
Well, that fixed it, so I'm marking as invalid.
