Description Marcus D. Hanwell (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-05-26 14:11:33 UTC
Kopete will not log in to any Yahoo account on amd64 platform. This problem was first noticed under KDE 3.2.1, and is not fixed in KDE 3.2.2. It simply states that the password is incorrect, and asks for it again.

I searched the KDE bug database and found bug 79981 which seems to fix this issue. Not sure how to apply a patch to my source files before building though. It is a very simple fix to one source file, and is now listed as resolved.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Emerge KDE 3.2.2, specifically kdenetwork-3.2.2, compiled for amd64.
2. Open Kopete and set up a Yahoo IM account.
3. Try to log in to the account.

Actual Results:
I get an error message dialog stating the password is incorrect, and asking
for the password again. Cannot log in to any Yahoo IM account.

Expected Results:
Log in to the Yahoo account.

This bug has been fixed upstream. The fix will be in KDE 3.2.3. See http://bugs.kde.org/show_bug.cgi?id=79981 for more information

That is the same bug I linked to in my original submission - see URL given in my original bug report. Although I didn't know it was slated to be included in 3.2.3. How long will it be until 3.2.3 is released? Is it possible to patch this problem in the meantime?

since KDE 3.2.3 is officially out, could somebody with more karma close this now?

Thanks. :-)

sure, fixed in 3.2.3 which is slowly trickling into portage.
