There is a new wine-20020710.ebuild on portage (basically a copy of the previous wine-20020605-r2.ebuild) without the new required alsa and arts dependencies, while an ebuild with these included had been submited by me several days ago (see bug #4939). No, I don't have CVS access. But I won't ask anymore. Since I first installed Gentoo about 2 months ago I already submited 24 bugs, giving the solution to 19. So I'm getting pretty efficient at this: usually it only takes me less than 3min of my attention to prepare and submit bug every time I fix or update an ebuild, and I can start to use it right away; while on the other end it requires that someone decides to whom the bug should be assigned, and the assignee has to analyze my bug report, apply it, test it, and if everything is OK commit it to CVS. (You all know what I'm talking about). So although it would take less total time to commit this to CVS myself, I guess I keep the best part of the bargain. Nevertheless you'll still get my rant about this absurd work duplication.
Hmm okay lets get over with this: I'm sorry. I looked into your patch (#4939) several days ago and wanted to commit it, but as i looked into the tree, i saw that mjc already bumped wine to the new version. I thought "fine, he updated it and forgot to close the bug, i'll ask him when i meet him." and fixed some other bugs. Now that you mention it, i also see that he forgot the alsa and arts dependencies in wine-20020710. I looked into our cvsbrowser some minutes ago and i found a new revision of wine (wine-20020710-r1) which contains your changes. mjc modified it 4 hrs ago - that should fix this bug. Once again, i'm sorry - if you ever have a patch with wine[x], assign the bug directly to me, please. I'll close this bug and #4939 now, if you have further questions/problems, send me an email. -phoen][x-
Phoenix, mjc, First I want to say that my rant wasn't directed to any of you in particular: all of you do great jobs and these things happen. My rant was directed to the whole sistem, which makes things happen more often than it should - it's not the first the time I submit simple stuff that remains long time unsolved leading to several bug duplicates, etc. Anyway, thanks for your suggestion Phoenix - If I ever have something related with wine[x] then I'll do as you said and assign directly to you.
