net-misc/youtube-viewer-3.1.1 installs and works fine. I noticed that it's possible use VLC as backend, the config file says: vlc => { arg => "--quiet --play-and-exit --no-video-title-show", cmd => "vlc", fs => "--fullscreen", novideo => "--intf dummy --novideo", srt => "--sub-file '%s'", }, Please add vlc as USE option in the ebuild. Reproducible: Always Actual Results: Mplayer, mplayer2 or mpv is needed to install youtube-viewer Expected Results: VLC as option in youtube-viewer's ebuild.
I'd rather remove them all and tell the user to install a compatible streaming player
all video player dependencies removed and substituted with an elog message https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/commit/?id=b6b942cdc109812d23a1a01f6153e5025c6286be
