after the failed build, manually running "emerge bison"

Once the bootstrap failed, I manually ran

bash-3.2$ env -i HOME=$HOME TERM=$TERM USER=$USER bin/bash -l
joe@iMac ~/Gentoo $ emerge bison

which did succeed.

Given that there is a tracker for bison-3, I think we best mask bison-3 in Prefix for the time being.
Comment 6 Fabian Groffen gentoo-dev 2014-08-24 07:14:55 UTC
Masked for the time being

Unfortunately this still is not fixed during bootstrap. It was reported yesterday on IRC by someone else, and I just confirmed that the problem has not been resolved by running a fresh bootstrap, which still fails on bison 3.0.2. Even though it was masked in portage, it was not fixed in bootstrap.

Oh, stupid me, needs a snapshot bump

Fixed. The early stage3 bison workaround broke for >=bison-3, but I updated it.
