Description Peter Gracar 2004-05-21 09:34:16 UTC
Starting up gnome 2.6 causes the "Gnome Session Deamon could not start. Things like themes, backgrounds and sounds might not work." error to appear every time. There are no themes (icons) after the error. Going into "themes" however fixes the issue until the next login.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Start up gnome 2.6
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Themes don't work

Expected Results:
Themes should work

I can confirm this bug. I experience the exact same behaviour.

I can confirm that this happens for me too.
Although the wording of the error message is "Gnome Settings Deamon could not start".

dunno this should be auto started by your session ... does this happen for new users too ?
Comment 4 Peter Gracar 2004-07-14 00:52:10 UTC
Killing the session, reemerging all the theme engines and dependancies and relloging in and out fixed the issue.
