Description Andrew Arnott 2004-05-20 21:13:59 UTC
In Code Listing 4, this is the content:
# emerge sync
(In case you are unable to use rsync, use "emerge-webrsync" which
downloads and installs a portage snapshot for you)
# emerge-webrsync

It states "in case you are unable to use rsync". At this point, we were never told to TRY rsync, whatever that is. If it doesn't work, then try this next command, which is also listed in what looks like the normal flow, as if you should type it next, even if the first one worked. So what's rsync? And should I type the second command if the first worked?

- New Linux user. Great site!
