Description Richard Werner 2004-05-20 17:44:44 UTC
We, the people of gentoo.no and gentoo.se, would like to
become official mirror for both portage and distfiles (full mirror).
The server is located in Norway but will serve both the swedish and norwegian community.
Server is sync'ed according to the rules in the documentation.

gentoo-x86-portage Gentoo Linux Portage tree
gentoo-portage Gentoo Linux Portage tree mirror
available via rsync://rsync.gentoo.no and rsync://rsync.gentoo.se

and distfiles available from http://mirror.gentoo.no and http://mirror.gentoo.se
(You're not allowed to list all the files in /distfiles for performance issues)

You can reach me at richard@gentoo.se for further questioning.

Best regards
Richard Werner

I noticed both {rsync,mirror}.gentoo.{no,se} are of the same IP. Which rsync rotation would you prefer the machine be in, Norway or Sweden?

I was unable to pull an rsync timestamp from your IP, please make sure that rsync daemon is running. At which point I recieve confirmation from you what TLD you would like to run in, I can add you into our rotation. Thanks!

Jeffrey

The server is, as previously stated, located in Norway (at the "Norwegian University of Science and Technology") and should therefor be part of the norwegian rotation.

About you not being able to get the timestamp is confusing me since i see it in our logs that someone, which i assume is you, has been using the rsyncd. Our own users have only reported successful syncs.
Please report if there still is anything that should be changed.

Best Regards
Richard Werner

Just a quick thought: are you trying to sync with rsync://rsync.gentoo.no or rsync://rsync.gentoo.no/gentoo-portage (like any other server you should just appended with gentoo-portage). If this isn't the error noone but you have this problem and I would like some feedback on the issue (maybe a new bugreport?)

Richard,

I apologize for the long delay. Mirror looks good, so here's the rsync mirror bit:

Thanks for helping out Gentoo. I have added the IP you specified in the bug to our access database, please start synching to rsync1.us.gentoo.org per our Rsync document at http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/rsync.xml. After a period of days I will check to make sure the timestamps are up to date and then add you into the appropriate rotation. We would like you to subscribe to the gentoo-mirrors Mailing List by sending an email to gentoo-mirrors-subscribe@lists.gentoo.org, as we send our notifications of updates, releases, and changes in policy to the mirrors. Once again, thanks for the hardware and bandwidth!

For Infrastructure,
Jeffrey

Now syncing against rsync1.us.gentoo.org, scheduled as recommended and seems to be working perfectly.

For the distfiles mirror:
Thanks for helping out Gentoo. I have added your mirror to our list at http://www.gentoo.org/main/en/mirrors.xml. Please start synching from ftp.oregonstate.edu as the email I have sent to you instructs. We would like you to subscribe to the gentoo-mirrors Mailing List by sending an email to gentoo-mirrors-subscribe@lists.gentoo.org, as we send out notifications of updates, releases, and changes in policy to the mirrors. Once again, thanks for the hardware and bandwidth!

For the rsync mirror:
I have added your mirror into the rsync.no.gentoo.org rotation as rsync4.no.gentoo.org. Please continue to sync against rsync1.us.gentoo.org as instructed.

Everything looks great! Thanks for helping out Gentoo.

For Infrastructure,
Jeffrey
