with the latest hotplug and hotplug-base installed i am getting an error at boot when caching service dependencies runs

gawk: /lib/rcscripts/awk/gendepends.awk:441: (FILENAME=- FNR=125) fatal: cant redirect to '/var/lib/init.d/deptree' (Read-only file system)

also alsamixer fails to save/restore its state and must be umuted after each boot. i was told that it was possibly hotplug so downgrading to the previous version 20040105 took care of the problems i was having.

also i noticed that with hotplug-20040401 the init scripts seem to bring eth0 down before it was ever started.
