Description Alan McKinnon 2014-06-15 09:04:29 UTC
Emerging gupnp produces this output:

!!! The ebuild selected to satisfy ">=net-libs/gupnp-0.18[abi_x86_32(-)?,abi_x86_64(-)?,abi_x86_x32(-)?,abi_mips_n32(-)?,abi_mips_n64(-)?,abi_mips_o32(-)?]" has unmet requirements.
- net-libs/gupnp-0.20.12-r1::gentoo USE="introspection -connman -networkmanager" ABI_X86="64 -32 -x32" PYTHON_TARGETS="python2_7 -python2_6"

The following REQUIRED_USE flag constraints are unsatisfied:
    exactly-one-of ( connman networkmanager )

(dependency required by "net-libs/gupnp-igd-0.2.3-r1" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "net-libs/farstream-0.2.3[upnp]" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "net-libs/telepathy-farstream-0.6.1" [ebuild])
(dependency required by "net-libs/telepathy-qt-0.9.3-r1[farstream]" [installed])
(dependency required by "kde-base/krdc-4.13.1-r1[telepathy]" [installed])
(dependency required by "kde-base/kdenetwork-meta-4.13.1" [installed])
(dependency required by "@alan-kde" [set])
(dependency required by "@selected" [set])
(dependency required by "@world" [argument])

I believe this logic is incorrect; I do wish to have uPNP and I do not want connman or nm (I use wicd). I believe there are two errors here:

a. gupnp should depend on a virtual rather than exactly one of (connman, nm, wicd, systemd, openrc and nothing can all set up network connections)

b. A network service should require a working connection, not require a specific network manager to be installed. That is mechanics and under user control

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. USE="-connman -networkmanager" emerge gupnp
2.
3.
Actual Results:
Merge fails with an exactly one of unsatisfied

Expected Results:
Merge should proceed regardless of how connections are set up

These use-flags are mutually exclusive because the upstream has them mutually exclusive.
Comment 2 Mike Gilbert gentoo-dev 2014-06-15 17:22:07 UTC
The bug was not invalid, but the summary was probably wrong.

Instead of REQUIRED_USE="^^ ( connman networkmanager )", it should be REQUIRED_USE="?? ( connman networkmanager)"

I don't question why they are mutually exclusive. I question why those are my only options to use gupnp.

I use neither of those packages, I use wicd. I can't see why it matters how I get my connection up (or even if I have one running at all).
