Description Marcin Sochoń (soki) 2014-06-02 06:52:30 UTC
After when I upgrade cinnamon to 2.2.13 and gnome to 3.12 cinnamon calendar applet stop working. It doesn't refresh current time. A similar issue I found in power manager in cinnamon. Power manager applet disappear and I can't turn it on. Power manager settings from cinnamon control center also did't work. I tied to downgarde cinnamon to 2.2.9 but it did't help.

Reproducible: Always

>=sys-power/upower-0.99.0 removed support for hibernate/suspend in favour of systemd. Are you using systemd? Have you upgraded to UPower 0.99.0?
You have to emerge sys-power/upower-pm-utils if you want hibernate/suspend from UPower without systemd, but some packages might *require* 0.99.0 so you will have to deal with blockers too by unemerging possible some conflicting packages.
As in, this is likely not an bug, but an designed upstream change, like it or not.

As in, if you want sys-power/pm-utils system that doesn't use systemd, you likely want upower that uses sys-power/pm-utils, and for that, you have to emerge sys-power/upower-pm-utils
Comment 2 Samuli Suominen (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2014-06-02 16:26:57 UTC
that was a test request + information request if this is a systemd system and what version of upower? :)

also basic `emerge --info` missing. reopen the bug with them.
Comment 3 Marcin Sochoń (soki) 2014-06-02 16:59:37 UTC
Yes, it is systemd system with upower-0.99.0

Meanwhile i rebuilding my system with gnome/systemd profile.

I just finished rebuild my system with new profile(gnome/systemd) and it restored powermanager-settings in control center. Applets still not working but this is probably applets bugs.

Check if cinnamon-control-center-2.2.9 fixes the time applet problem.

I emerge cinnamon-control-center-2.2.9 and reboot the system but time applet still not working.
Comment 7 Marc Vinyals 2014-06-12 18:27:52 UTC
The applet problem may be related to this upstream bug:
https://github.com/linuxmint/Cinnamon/issues/2913

Does this work for you then?

Yes, calendar applet with this patch works for me. Thanks
Comment 10 Pacho Ramos gentoo-dev 2014-06-12 21:27:55 UTC
Not sure if will be possible to make that patch work for both upower versions :/ (otherwise we would need to require newer upower or have two versions for two upower versions... or does 'notify::resume' work with old upower too?
Comment 11 Marcin Sochoń (soki) 2014-06-14 09:47:58 UTC
Finally i have got working battery indicator. I installed power manager applet from: https://github.com/robin92/cinnamon-power-applet/
This version works with upower-0.99

Looks interesting, that way we would use that one for upower-0.99 and the one from cinnamon itself for old upower. I have commented in upstream report to try to know how upstream plans to handle this
Comment 13 Marcin Sochoń (soki) 2014-07-16 11:20:18 UTC
upower_caldenar_fix.patch still isnt in poratge tree. After upgrade to cinnamon-2.2.14 I had to apply it again.

time applet fix patch

I still have the issue with time applet in cinnamon-control-center-2.2.10 and it appears that the patch link above is no longer valid. I made a patch based off how arch linux handles this which I attached.
